Adult Bible Study
Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. in the conference room/library
Adult Bible Study meets on Sundays at 9 a.m. in the conference room/library. You can also join online via Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82483569810. During Lent, we are studying a five-lesson, contemplative, and scripture-based Lenten study produced by the Forward Movement. It is called Will You? by Amanda Perkins McGriff and has daily scripture readings and reflections for the days of Lent. The basis of the readings is our set of Baptismal promises, specifically the last five questions which focus on our actions. Each of those five questions begins with the words: “Will You?” The “Will You” questions describe how we are to live according to our baptisms. The reflections give a clear call to practice evangelism by proclaiming the Good News in all we do and say. It is not a stretch to say that Episcopalians are uncomfortable with the word “evangelism”. This study series will help us clarify and ‘try on’ the concept, and help us think in new ways about the promises we make to God, to each other, and to ourselves in baptism. Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. in the conference room/library
The Women's Bible Study meets on Wednesdays in the conference room/library. Our study on Jesus's "I Am" statements ends on March 20th. A new study will start on April 3 and will end on May 8. This is a six-week study of the book "Jesus The Bridegroom '' the greatest love story ever told by Brant Pitre. You can purchase this book through Amazon. We will be discovering how the suffering and death of Jesus was far more than a tragic Roman execution. The Passion of Christ was the fulfillment of ancient Jewish prophecies of a wedding when the God of the universe would wed himself to humankind in an everlasting nuptial covenant. The key to unveiling this mystery can be found by going back to Jewish Scripture and tradition and seeing the entire history of salvation, from Mount Sinai to Mount Calvary, as a divine love story between Creator and creature, between God and Israel, between Christ and his bride - a story that comes to a climax on the wood of a Roman cross. Come join us and learn more about the greatest love story ever told. Please read pages 7 - 27 to be prepared for the first class session.
